I grew up in Switzerland near Zurich where I became an elementary school teacher. Thinking back on my childhood, I’ve always loved teaching. One of my early childhood memories is playing “school” with my younger sister, teaching her what I was learning in first grade at the time.
As an elementary school teacher I loved working with small children. I appreciated their curious minds and honest outlook on life. After ten years of teaching elementary school children I felt ready to take on a new challenge and started my studies at the University of Applied Sciences in Special Needs Education in Zurich. These studies really helped me understand how everyone learns differently. I therefore adapted my teaching methods to fit all types and personalities.
After our second child was born, my husband and I decided to move to his home country. In 2015 we packed all of our belongings and started a new life in southern California. The thought of becoming self-employed had been on my mind for quite some time at that point and this move was the perfect opportunity to make it happen. I started out teaching German to a few private students, children and adults. Since this new occupation brought me great joy, I decided to expand my clientele. In fall 2017 I was accepted as a teacher at the adult school in Thousand Oaks. I have learned so much from my students and have gained a tremendous amount of insight about what they need in order to be able to communicate confidently in a foreign language whether it’s for business, traveling or talking to their spouse’s relatives.
In 2019 I was asked by the German American School Association to open up a location for children to learn German. Happily, our new school here in Thousand Oaks has been a big success right from the beginning.
For almost three years now I’ve been serving clients all over the world and supporting them in their journey to learn the German language. I love my work especially when I get to witness how my students attain confidence and start feeling proud of their own achievements.
